State of the University Address Highlights
The Stakeholders’ and Papuri Night as part of the University Days 2023 celebration, November 18, 2023, advanced to the presentation of the State of the University address of Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo, University President. Hence, here are the notable achievements of Northwest Samar State University for the past years and today.
“For the past academic year where we had over 1,078 graduates just shows how significant the Free Higher Education is to our community. Aside from that, a total of 78 awards were bagged by Norwesians in different academic and non-academic competitions locally and internationally.
…On top of that, there were also 350 Licensure Examination Passers from different board programs of the university where 3 Top Notchers emerged. To add to that merit, 1 more program was awarded the Certificate of Program Compliance that totaled to 18 COPCs of the university… On the other hand, out of 39 program offerings from both campuses, 36 are already AACCUP Accredited Level 1-3 Programs.
ON RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
“There was a total of 10 Research Publications that were made possible by our faculty-researchers that just shows how skilled and capable our teachers are. Alongside this accomplishment, were 8 Research Awards and 9 Research Papers were presented in International Research Conferences that proves that the Northwest Samar State University is going to be a pinnacle of researchers in the future.
… For Innovation, there are currently 5 Innovations and productions that were recorded since the establishment of the Innovation Section in the RIE Division. And of course, one achievement that we are very proud of is the 3rd Asian Conference on Resource Management and Governance that we currently are working with other universities.
“There were 21 Extension Programs and Projects that were organized by our faculty-extensionists and 15 Memorandum of Agreements were signed that paved the way of having 2,638 trained individuals from the various Extension Programs and Projects conducted and 300 attendees of 5 RIE-Related Trainings.
“For Production, A total of 5 innovations were considered by iPophil as products that can be mass produced that we understand as a very important part of our university since we are traversing to be a technological university… To add to these series of triumphs, NwSSU is currently a member of AUAP and ATU-NET which are international organizations that paved the way to two new International Partnerships just the past year.
… From being awarded as Asia’s Outstanding Academic Institution by CMO Asia, recertified for ISO 9001:2015 by SOCOTEC Certification International, awarded as Top Performer Award/ by the Department of Budget and Management, passed the Regional PQA Assessment of DTI, we have recently reached another milestone from our strategic goals which is achieving the QS 3 Stars Rating.
“In the next few years, NwSSU will explore offering programs such as BS Nursing, Bachelor of Library and Information Science, BS Accountancy, BS Accounting Information System, BS Maritime Transportation, and BS Fisheries.
“And in 2024, NwSSU views priority Infrastructure Targets which are the Construction of Three Storey Students’ Dormitory, Four Storey Engineering and Architecture Building, Four Storey Nursing Building (Main Campus), Completion of Four Storey Information Technology Building, Improvement of Oval Track and Field, Construction of Multi-Purpose Center, and Students’ Mobile Learning Center.
“NwSSU is ready to take on heftier challenges such as becoming the host of PASUC Regional Culture and Arts Festival and 38th Regional SCUAA Games in 2024.
“…International Partnership with Beifang Teaching Aids R&D Institute, and applying for THE World University Rankings.
